The last time the two African sides met in the sevens circuit was during the Cup quarterfinals of the second leg of the Dubai Sevens in December 2021 when South Africa ran out 31-19 winners on their way to claiming the title.

South Africa have been in red hot form in rugby sevens and are the current Series leaders with 88 points, 18 clear of second-placed Argentina and 22 ahead of third-placed Australia.

The Blitzboks came off a 33-7 win against Australia in the Seville Sevens Cup final on Sunday which saw them claim a fourth tournament win of the season and extend their winning streak to 34 matches.

South Africa’s winning streak equaled the second-longest streak of all time, set by New Zealand’s team from 2001-2002.

Kenya, meanwhile, defeated Spain 24-19 at the same tournament to finish in ninth place. Shujaa currently lies in eighth place in the HSBC Series standings with 31 points.

The Singapore Sevens will take place at the National Stadium in Kallang from April 9-10.
