South Africa will play three test matches against Wales in July before beginning its Rugby Championship campaign with consecutive tests against New Zealand.

The Springboks will face the Welsh on July 2 at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria, July 9 at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein and July 16 at DHL Stadium in Cape Town.

This will be the first time South Africa will face Wales on home soil since 2014. The two sides last met in November 2020 in Cardiff with South Africa defeating Wales 23-18.

The reigning world champions will then play rivals the All Blacks on August 6 at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit and August 13 at Emirates Airline Park in Johannesburg.

Following the conclusion of those tests, the Springboks will then fly to Australia for the away leg of the tournament where they will play the Wallabies on August 27 and September 3, with both venues of the matches yet to be confirmed.

South Africa will then fly to Argentina to take on Los Pumas at Vélez Sarsfield on September 17. The Boks’ final game will be against Argentina at Hollywoodbets Kings Park in Durban on September 24.

SA Rugby CEO Jurie Roux said it was important for South Africa to face quality opposition as the team prepares to defend its world title in France next year while acknowledging the COVID-19 pandemic may still present some challenges.

“It’s exciting to announce such a strong list of Springbok fixtures this season after a successful 2021 season for the team, and I have no doubt that Jacques Nienaber, his management team and the players will do their best to build on those achievements this season.”
