Zimbabwean schools will reopen in a phased manner after a two-month national lockdown, Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said Tuesday.
Speaking during a post-cabinet meeting, Mutsvangwa said that while examination classes are to commence on March 15, other students will resume learning on March 22.
He further added that school attendance will be on a rotational basis to avoid overcrowding in line with COVID-19 guidelines, with pupils expected to employ virtual learning on days that they are not at school.
Churches, which have remained closed since the total lockdown in January, can now congregate but with people not exceeding 50, said Mutsvangwa.
Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Monday announced that the economy will reopen on condition that businesses and individuals adhere to national and World Health Organization COVID-19 guidelines.
The president decided to relax the lockdown measures at a time when the country is progressing with its national vaccination campaign after taking delivery of the first batch of vaccines donated by China last month
