WHO: COVID-19 situation in India ‘beyond heartbreaking’

World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has termed the situation in India as ‘beyond heartbreaking’.

“WHO is doing everything we can, providing critical equipment and supplies, including thousands of oxygen concentrators, prefabricated mobile field hospitals and laboratory supplies,” The Director General said.

Adding that WHO is sending 2,600 extra staff members and supplies there to help fight the pandemic.

India is currently facing a surge in Coronavirus cases and deaths. Coupled with an oxygen shortage.

China, U.S., France, the E.U are among nations that have come forth to offer help to India.

The country has thus far recorded 17,653,000 coronavirus cases, 14,519,000 recoveries and 197,812 deaths.
