Uganda is resuming its COVID-19 vaccination exercise.

The exercise for the 175,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine commences today and will end on Friday, July 2 in all districts.

The country’s ministry of health stated the drive will begin with health care workers and persons due to receive a second dose.

“Due to the current lockdown, the District Health Officers will ensure that all eligible persons are reached and vaccinated.” The ministry stated.

The ministry says more vaccines are expected to be available before the end of July.

Uganda on June 16 received 175,200 COVID-19 doses from the COVAX facility, a donation from the Embassy of France in Uganda.
