Uganda registered 10,931 Covid-19 cases in nine days, according to the Ministry of Health data, representing 14 percent of total cases.

According to a report by local publication Daily Monitor, from June 15 to June 23, 77,574 samples were tested for the coronavirus out of which 10,931 tested positive bringing the total case load in the country to 76,562.

During the same period, a total of 322 patients succumbed to the disease.

Uganda experienced its second wave of Covid-19 last month, largely attributed to a number of factors, including laxity in observing or enforcing the standard operating procedures (SOPs), among others, whereas other scientists attributed it to variants such as the Delta variant.
