Rwanda now has three state-of-the-art disinfectant robots it can use to fight the spread of the coronavirus. The new high-tech tools will also help reduce hospital-acquired infections.
The ultraviolet robots are expected to improve infection prevention control processes in treatment centres and other various areas as they are faster, smarter and more efficient. Just one robot can disinfect up to 15 rooms in a 8 hour shift. They can also kill viruses other than COVID-19 and at the same time help in cleaning and disinfecting treatment centres, hospitals and places of mass gatherings such as markets and offices. The robots donated by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Japan.
This comes a day after Rwanda allowed resumption of businesses in the capital Kigali with essential staff, not more than 30%, as the country began easing its second coronavirus lockdown in the capital.
Rwanda has so far recorded 16,621 cases of Coronavirus and 223 deaths.
