Madagascar receives 1st delivery of 250,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses

Madagascar received its first delivery of 250,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses on Saturday, supplied through the COVAX initiative.

In a tweet, World Health Organization (WHO) Madagascar said this first batch is part of a first allocation which will continue in the coming weeks to initially cover 20% of the population.

Minister of Public Health, Prof. Jean Louis Hanitrala Rakotovao was accompanied by United Nations Madagascar officials and partners in receiving the vaccines at the Ivato airport.Madagascar has thus far recorded 38,945 coronavirus cases, 35,505 recoveries and 707 deaths.
