Kenya has on Thursday morning received 358,200 AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses courtesy of the Canadian government.
The donation is part of the 1.3 million doses Canada shipped to three African countries. Nigeria and Niger were the other two nations receiving doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
“This donation means those that have taken the first dose will be able to have their second dose. It will go a long way in helping our people in this fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.” Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said.
As of September 2, Kenya has received over 3.6 million vaccines. The country is expecting another 4.16 million doses of an assortment of vaccines over the next few days.
“Amongst these is the consignment of Johnson & Johnson expected this coming Friday.”
Kagwe also said that the country also expects another consignment of the Moderna vaccines on Monday from the United States.
