The administration of President Mokgweetsi Masisi vowed to create an enabling environment for businesses in Botswana in the wake of a year of economic hardships occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic.
Masisi said the government would ensure that regulations relating to the ease of doing businesses were improved and fully implemented.
Masisi made the comments on Friday during a ceremony where he received food donations for frontline workers from the business community.
The 58-year-old added that the government had formulated a strategy, the Economic Recovery and Transformation Plan, to help revive the economy and help boost small, medium and micro enterprises, which had collapsed due to the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Masisi thanked the businesses community for extending a helping hand, especially during the difficult time of brought about by the pandemic.
Botswana has reported 12,873 confirmed coronavirus cases and 38 deaths, as of December 19, according to the World Health Organization.
