Angolan health authorities concerned over rising death cases due to COVID-19

Angolan health authorities are concerned about the increase in death numbers due to COVID-19 across the country, the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda said here Friday.

Mufinda said that in the first 22 days of August, 142 death cases were registered due to COVID-19.

“We started to have a weekly increase in deaths with particular incidence in the east and south of the country”, Mufinda said.

The official added that the situation of the new strains is “leading to more deaths”. He appealed to the country’s population to adhere to vaccination and to redouble prevention measures.

Angola to date has recorded 46,726 positive cases, with 1,182 deaths.
