Close to 160,000 Rwandese people vaccinated

Rwanda has vaccinated almost 160,000 citizens, with the second day of the country’s vaccination program recording 83,942 more Rwandans who received their first shot.

The country’s Ministry of Health reported that vaccinations continue on Sunday, with the focus being on elderly Rwandans (65 years and older), teachers, Community Health Workers and those with underlying conditions or living with disabilities.

Rwanda received more than 102,000 Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines on Wednesday, delivered to the country under the COVAX initiative and another 240,000 doses of COVAX Covid-19 AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines.

Rwanda commenced its vaccination exercise on Friday.

The country has recorded more than 19,509 coronavirus cases and 267 deaths to date.
